Quantum Conundrum.

January 22, 2012

I am a huge fan of Valve. Half-Life is one of my favorite games, and I don’t think I’ve every truly disliked much about any game that Valve has put out. One of their best, in my personal opinion, being Portal ( and Portal2! ). Kim Swift was one of the lead developers and level designers on Portal. Portal was even based on the core mechanics of Kim Swifts personal project called “Narbacular Drop”. She has since left Valve to work as a lead over at Airtight games, working with a small creative group on a new title – Quantum Conundrum. I have been watching game-play footage of this game for a few hours now, and I am really, really excited for Kim’s new project. It still has a Portal “feel” to it, and is a relatively comical first-person puzzle shooter – which seems about right considering Kim’s lead involvement in it.

Let this games release be Swift and victorious. See what I did there?

The Tester 3 Trailer.

January 18, 2012

Finally, the trailer for The Tester 3 has gone live. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while now, namely because I’m a sucker for nostalgia and I wanted to see my nerd family again, and re-live some of our antics in the house. It was truly great, and albeit slightly embarrassing, to see your existence played out in front of you. When you’re in the house, you get so used to the cameras being there that you almost forget you’re being filmed, so it’s really something  to see from another perspective what was going on. With that said, I really cant wait to see these episodes. I truly hope you guys enjoy it, and I cant wait to see just how magical the wonders of editing truly are.

Also, I will be reviewing every episode on my YouTube  Channel, so feel free to subscribe. I’ll do my own reviews, and will also be reviewing episodes with other members of the cast. If you’re really bored, have no video games to play, or want to feel better about yourself, you should definitely check out the internet pollution that is the YouTube comments on the trailer and other related Tester videos.

New Year, New ….News?

January 6, 2012

First of all, Happy New Year! Secondly – ever look at a word too long and start to realize how weird it looks, then you think you’re spelling it wrong? I just had that moment while typing the title for this blog. New. What a weird-looking word. Anyways!

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. I’ve been a horrible blogger. I’ve been so busy with so many things. Also, i’ve been lazy. Really lazy. I’m not even going to lie. I’ll do my best to catch you all up on everything, but if you follow me on Twitter than you probably already have an idea. I am really glad that I can finally announce that I was chosen from hundreds of applicants to be on the show Sony Playstation The Tester: Season 3! Out of hundreds, twelve hardcore gamers are picked to live in a house with each other, and compete in video game related challenges. Every week someone is eliminated based on performance in said challenges! There are a lot of surprises in eliminations and for the most part, it’s never easy to say goodbye to your room-mates, who become more like family as the days go by. There is the obvious drama – no doubt about that, but you’ll have to watch to fully appreciate it. We are all competing for a chance to be in the final episode, where the top three gamers compete against each other for the ultimate reward. The reward is a job, working on an unreleased title at Santa Monica studios. Which is a HUGE deal – Santa Monica is responsible for the God of War series. Being able to work there would be a dream for most avid gamers. As if that wasn’t enough, there are other tech prizes, a $5,000 signing bonus and a fucking car. So, yeah, as much as we all loved each other, shit gets REAL interesting when you’re all competing for all of that. The Tester Season 3 airs Febuary 7th. Until then, check out the cast bios and videos on the site

I did some photo-shoots recently that I haven’t posted. Namely just fun stuff, tattoo magazine stuff,  my favorite of which was this comic book themed shoot where I was both a hero, and a villain. If I were to actually pursue a career in villainy – sequin booty shorts would probably actually be my first choice as far as costuming goes. Totally practical. I have some projects lined up that are Playstation/Video Game themed – Which im excited for. I dont model much anymore, unless its a favor – but any nerdy project, sign me the hell up.

I have been an avid World of Warcraft nerd since the game made its debut. I can talk about that game for hours. So you’re best not to get me started. It really made me a true fan of MMO games. Ultima Online was like my gate-way drug of MMO’s, and WoW sealed the deal. Now, outside of loving MMO games and talking shit to assholes on vent, I really love the Star Wars universe. Maybe more than I love dragons – and thats a lot. So, now with the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic I had to hang up my wands and potions, and oh, any and all of my spare time. With the epic-fucking-fail that was Star Wars: Galaxies, I was a little concerned. I felt a little better knowing BioWare was involved, and as I ferociously YouTubed game play videos, I realized then this was truly going to be a gem. I had no idea just how great, though. Im sorry, but the story in this game ( IN MY OPINION ) blows Warcrafts out of the water. The ability to make decisions through your quests is fantastic. The voice acting is amazing. All the races and classes are great – I STILL cant decide what class to focus on leveling, because they are all truly so fun. The environments are fantastic – and this game still stays true to the heart of the Star Wars lore and universe. Basically, Im in love. If I didn’t learn self control during my Warcraft days, id play this game for day with little to know sleep. Lets just talk about what a babe my Chiss Bounty Hunter Mercenary is. Seriously. You can find her on the server Tarentatek. Her name is Pryde. Add her up!

I’d also like to point out how much will power it took to chose to do this blog entry rather than level her up. That’s a big deal. Any pathetically addicted MMO’er will know.

Queen of the Universe.

June 27, 2011

If I was Queen of the Universe, I would make it so that all traffic lights were Space Invader themed. So – you all just wait. I put my application in for Queen of the Universe the other day, im just waiting to hear back. Sooo, until then, I’m just making a list of all the things im planning to do.

I had a few people send me questions on Formspring about how they would like me to post more about my life and myself on some of my posts here, so even though im boring I will try to keep you all up to date. Recently I got a job at a pretty neat concert venue, and Im excited to start this week. Other than ending my job search, I’ve been spending time with my friends and trying to fill myself up with love and dancing a lot. I’ve been working on several photoshoot projects with a really talented South Florida photographer named Emilee Rose. We are currently shooting for some flyers, magazines and a website, and next we are shooting for a makeup company.  She is still editing a lot of the photos, but here is one of the finished ones for now.

Clark, the spider, was too scared to get his feet wet.

This photo was taken at night in a really creepy canal near the entrance to a sewer tunnel. It was thundering and we had a lot of interesting wild-life visitors for the few hours that we shot. I absolutely adore the results and got a sweet arm workout from holding that heavy ass lantern. I am excited to post more images as Emilee edits and sends them to me. Please go like her facebook page, and if you are in Florida, get at her for shoots!

So, other than all that, i’ve just been trying to get more into World of Warcraft until the new Star Wars MMO comes out. Then that will basically take over my life, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Here is a little preview of some in-game play!

Robin Williams keeps Zelda in the Family.

June 17, 2011

When I first watched this, It gave me goosebumps. Same thing happened when I watched it 5 more times. Most don’t know this about Robin Williams, but he is a huge Legend of Zelda fan, so much so that he named his daughter after the princess herself! In the video below, Robin is helping promote the new re-work of Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 3DS. Also, can we talk about how gorgeous his daughter, Zelda, is? Geez!

Be Still My Heart: E3 Nintendo Press Conference!

June 9, 2011

I feel like Edgar Allan Poe writing about his beautiful Annabel Lee when it comes down to writing about Nintendo. It basically overwhelms me. We’ve had a romance for about 20 years now – and thankfully, Nintendo didn’t end up contracting Tuberculosis and dying on me. Nintendo never disappoints me. Ever. Year after year, I wait in anticipation for the Nintendo Press Conference held during E3. I used to work the Expo as a “booth babe” and promoter – I haven’t been able to make it the last couple years, and it breaks my heart. I watch the coverage from behind my computer while tears well up in my eyes. Not really. But maybe. E3 is basically like – Disneyland for nerds. If you haven’t been, it is just indescribable.

This year Nintendo truly delivered. Their press conference ( per usual ) was entertaining, informative and playful. It’s The Legend of Zelda’s 25th anniversary, and Nintendo celebrated by opening their conference with a full Orchestra playing iconic songs from the game, while a large protector took us on a trip down memory lane as we revisited all of the games. Really, really beautiful stuff.  Then, Shigeru Miyamoto came on stage to speak. His excitement and love for Zelda is so pure and genuine, that seeing him so excited to speak about The Legend of Zelda just melted my heart. He would jump, bow, and throw his fist in the air – smiling the whole time. I got goosebumps when he talked more about the new Zelda game: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Other than Zelda, a lot of amazing things were previewed during the conference. I am personally excited for the new Starfox and Kid Icarus. They also announced a free download of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords! This game is a great, and the fact Nintendo is giving it to us as a free download is proof about how much they really do love us. It feels like a long, warm hug. Thanks Nintendo! They are also giving us another free download – a new revamp of the retro classic - Excitebike! I can’t imagine how fun that’s going to be on the 3DS! They talked a little bit about a re-work on the Super Nintendo title, Luigi’s Mansion. I hated this game as a kid! I remember finding it so difficult as a child and throwing the cartridge at my little brother at one point. I’m going to try to avoid that this time around. No promises.

They ended the conference with the unveiling of the “Wii-U” which is not a new console – but an addition to the Wii itself. It’s technically a controller, but can act as a peripheral, a drawing tablet, ( !!! ), and a hand-held gaming system among other things. It’s honestly to me, pretty interesting and innovative. I’m most excited about the drawing tablet feature – I can see that being used in a lot of really interesting ways. Please, though – do yourself a favor and watch the conference if you have not seen it yet. It’s very exciting and entertaining, take my freakin’ word for it!

Final Fantasy: Piano Collections

May 29, 2011

When people ask me “So, what kind of music do you listen to?” not only is that my least favorite question, it just has the most impossible answer. My natural inclination is to say ” Well,  these are my favorite bands – but I primarily like music from video games.” Yeah. Doesn’t go over so smoothly. People just become instantly confused and when I try to explain how expansive video game music is, or how it’s “real music”  – since a lot of people seem to think it “doesn’t count” this discussion usually ends up with me leaving people mind-freaked and my just telling them I listen to “indie” music to make it easier on them.

Probably since I was at least 11 or 12 I have been really into Japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu. I have followed everything he has done since. He composes a lot of music for one of my favorite video game series, Final Fantasy. Each game has a piano collection that’s eventually released. It’s all piano versions of the songs in game. It’s beautiful. I have every collection, and even as a kid I would sit in my room and draw and listen to these CD’s on repeat all night. That hasn’t changed, really. Here are a collection of my favorite piano collections, from my favorite video game collection.

The Game Girl World Comes 360.

May 9, 2011

While I was at work the other night, A group of girls came in wearing shirts that said “Game Goddesses” on it. I was instantly intrigued, hoping it had something to do with  video gaming, and not like, poker or shuffleboard or something. I decided to make their drinks first before asking them about their shirts – but while they were deciding on their drinks one of the girls told me I looked familiar. After a few seconds of squinty-eyed looks it turns out they follow me on twitter and one of the girls follows my blog! WHAT A SMALL WORLD. I was elated, I then realized after exchanging twitter names that I do know and follow them, and it turns out they run the  gaming site SFX-360! They also do a really adorable girl-gamer podcast, which you can find on the site! I really suggest checking it all out. I know I personally check the site out pretty often.

After a lot of talking and laughing we decided we should definitely collaborate and do some stuff together. So, im really excited. It’s hard to meet like-minded girls that know their shit! They even gave me an amazing shirt. I basically love them. I am beyond thrilled they stopped into my coffee shop. It was meant to be.

These B3WBS pwn noobs

Follow these ladies on twitter! They post gaming stuff constantly and know their shit! You can also contact one of them if you are interested in a shirt.

Nerd Wood.

April 15, 2011

And by wood, I mean wood. Get your mind out of the gutter.

While surfing random Etsy shops at 4am, I came across a real gem.

bRainbowshop!

Lots of very fun and well constructed necklaces and other accessories made out of Wood! Most of which are created with a nerdy theme. I’ll be ordering one of everything, please.

Mac pixel brooches!

Full Hearts. Full Coffee Cups.

March 1, 2011

This weekend I ran away from home for a few days and attended the Cigar City tattoo convention in Tampa. All in all it was a good time, I drank a lot of coffee and talked to a lot of the interesting and fun artists. I wandered around the downtown city of Ybor consuming coffee and window shopping. Coffee Coffee Coffee. I was looking through the book of an artist from Utah, and he had the cutest coffee tattoo stencil in his book. I told him I loved it, and he said he was really hoping to do it this weekend – so we did! I had to represent my love for coffee eventually.

I also had my Legend of Zelda tattoo started, I believe I had mentioned I was getting it but never got around to posting pictures of it. I was going to wait until it was finished, but im just too excited and need to share. They are crappy webcam pictures, but you get the general idea. It’s Princess Zelda holding a life fairy – I love how all her armor and stuff looks already, it will be amazing when its all colored in.

Magical!

I just want nerd tattoos from here on out, hah.
